About The Opportunity
We are seeking a Head of AI Research to lead the development and execution of cutting-edge initiatives focused on Large Language Models (LLMs), post-training, evaluation frameworks, reasoning systems, and AI data operations.
This role sits at the intersection of AI Research, Machine Learning, Product, and Operations. You will be responsible for defining research priorities, leading multidisciplinary teams, and building scalable processes that improve the performance, reliability, and alignment of advanced AI systems.

What You'll Do
Research Leadership
- Define and execute the AI research roadmap aligned with business and product objectives.
- Lead initiatives involving LLM post-training, reasoning, model evaluation, alignment, and data-centric AI development.
- Identify opportunities to improve model performance through novel datasets, human feedback systems, evaluation methodologies, and research workflows.
- Stay at the forefront of developments in generative AI, language models, agent systems, reinforcement learning, and emerging research trends.
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and lead high-performing teams of researchers, data scientists, ML engineers, and AI program managers.
- Establish a culture of experimentation, scientific rigor, and operational excellence.
- Drive hiring, performance management, career development, and organizational growth.
AI Data & Model Development
- Design scalable frameworks for data collection, annotation, validation, evaluation, and quality assurance.
- Oversee the creation of datasets supporting code generation, reasoning, tool use, instruction following, and model evaluation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve model training pipelines and research infrastructure.
- Define metrics and methodologies to measure model quality and research impact.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Executive Leadership teams.
- Translate business challenges into research initiatives with measurable outcomes.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support strategic decisions through data-driven insights and research findings.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Research, or related technical fields.
- 3+ years leading AI research, machine learning, or applied AI teams.
- Deep understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, and modern machine learning systems.
- Experience working with model training, post-training, evaluation, alignment, reinforcement learning, human feedback systems, or related disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of data-centric AI methodologies and dataset development.
- Experience building and scaling research organizations or AI-focused teams.
- Proven ability to drive complex initiatives from concept through execution.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent English (written and spoken), with experience working in international and distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with code generation models, reasoning models, agentic systems, or multimodal AI.
- Background in model evaluation, benchmark design, synthetic data generation, or AI safety.
- Experience working with large-scale annotation operations or human-in-the-loop systems.
- Previous experience in AI-first companies, research labs, or fast-growing technology organizations.
- Publications, open-source contributions, patents, or notable research achievements.
- Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields.
